This itinerary covers all three of Zhangjiajie's major attractions: the Avatar Mountains in the National Forest Park, Tianmen Mountain's Heaven's Gate, and the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge.
Day 1: National Forest Park — Avatar Mountains
Morning (7:30 AM - 12:00 PM)
🏔️ Yuanjiajie (袁家界) — Avatar Mountains
- Take the bus from Wulingyuan to the park entrance
- Bailong Elevator up to Yuanjiajie (¥72, opens 8:00 AM)
- Walk the Yuanjiajie loop trail (~2-3 hours):
- Avatar Hallelujah Mountain — the iconic pillar
- First Bridge Under Heaven — natural stone arch
- Back Garden — hidden valley of pillars
- Enchanted Terrace — panoramic viewpoint
Afternoon (12:00 PM - 5:00 PM)
🌿 Golden Whip Stream (金鞭溪)
- Take the shuttle bus to Golden Whip Stream entrance
- Walk the 7.5km valley trail (2-3 hours, flat and easy)
- See Golden Whip Rock, wild monkeys, and pillar-lined stream
- Exit at the south end
Evening
🏨 Stay in Wulingyuan Town

Day 3: Glass Bridge & Canyon

- Arrive at the bridge by 8:30 AM (less crowded)
- Walk across the 430m glass bridge
- Descend into the canyon

- Boat ride at the bottom
- Return to city by late afternoon
